Dipankara Buddha. Schist stone painted and gilded, 3rd-5th century AD, found in Mes Aynak (Logar province, Afghanistan). This stele, edged with a row of flames, represents the first part of a story of the previous life of the historical Buddha. Color has been used in statue and then gilded.
